Web Update Client (WUC)

This is a demo screen shot showing one possible situation. It was created with unlicensed copy of Web Update Builder. Web Update Clients created with licensed copy will not display evaluation period counter and reference to XemiComputers.com.

Logo image is displayed in the top left corner and customer's name appear on the right (Demo Customer on this screen shot). " B " and " I " buttons are standard bold and italic text appearance controls that can be used for editing text. In the area just right of them Web Update Client will display a title for the selected web page (Web Update Client Example on this screen shot). Within rich text box typing Ctrl-Space produces unbreak space (A0H) symbol that is always converted to   in HTML code.

List of web pages available to Web Update Client is presented as a tree view in the left pane. When some web page is selected WUC immediately starts FTP connection to get current version of the page. If download is completed successfully right pane displays editable data. When all changes are entered click Update (step 1a) to upload new version of the page to web site. Reset (1b) is available to roll things back to downloaded original. When upload is completed click View Page (2) to open browser and check the result online (use Ctrl-Refresh in browser to make sure you are looking at the latest version of the page). Finally, if you are satisfied with changes made click Accept Changes (3a) to complete the process or click Undo (3b) to upload previous version of the page back to the web site. Each WUC has its own built-in Help page explaining this process in detail to the end user with some additional advices.

Look at another example situation on the following partial screenshot. It shows how it is possible to edit contents in a table using Web Update Client.

Web Update Client also has the Settings dialog. It displays proxy server parameters, FTP server address, option for enabling Active FTP Mode where necessary and FTP username/password. Of course, only proxy server parameters will be available for changes in all Web Update Clients. Other parameters' availability depends on the choice you make before creating Web Update Client. Apply button serves to confirm changes made to any of the available parameters and Refresh Pages initiates new download of list of web pages available for editing in the left pane of the Web Update Client.
