Scheduled Audio Recordings

Our sound recorders Audio Notes Recorder and Claudio are enabled with a special control interface that allows Smooth Program Scheduler to control them in many more aspects than simple starting of the program. In other words you can create a scheduled task that will launch one of these two audio programs, start recording from selected sound source, keep on recording as necessary, then stop it and exit the program.

So, if you want to try to make unattended scheduled recordings you also have to install either Audio Notes Recorder or Claudio. You can find them on our audio software page. Both programs allow 42 days for free evaluation with limits on length of recording (max 30 seconds per recording and max 3 recordings per so called cassette file), but you will be able to try all features including this one with scheduled recordings.

Once you have Smooth Program Scheduler and Audio Notes Recorder (or Claudio) installed on your computer here is how to make a task for scheduled recording:

- Open Smooth Program Scheduler and click New Task on the toolbar.
- Select Audio Notes Recorder from the list. If you do not see it there you can browse for its executable file ANR.exe in its installation folder (default: C:\Program Files\XemiComputers\Audio Notes Recorder).
- Name the task and give it some description.
- Set the task execution time (choose the date and enter the time in 24h format).
- Now add actions to the task. To make a recording you first have to start Audio Notes Recorder so first action in this task would be "execute anr.exe". Select it from the list of actions and click Add Action. Next action would be "start recording". At this point you can also select the sound source by enabling "select source" option (e.g. select Line In if you want to record from some external device connected to your computer). Next logical step is to "stop recording" and finally you can exit the program through "close audio notes recorder" action. While adding actions pay attention to their time offsets. Default offset between two actions is 20 seconds. You will most likely want to set different offset when it comes to length of recording, however, pay attention that if Audio Notes Recorder is working under evaluation period limits you can not record continually for more than 30 seconds.
- When you finish with actions you can also set some recurrence pattern if that task should repeat in regular intervals.
- Finally, check all task parameters and actions once again and if everything is ok click Create to put it on the list of scheduled tasks.
