Program installation/restore

  First-time installation

If you are installing Pocket Email Checker for the first time:

  1. Download Pocket Email Checker installation archive (pec.zip) from our website:
    http://www.xemico.com/pocket/pec/pec.zip
  2. Unpack the archive pec.zip to some temporary folder, double click on Setup.exe and follow instructions on the screen.

Note: the installation requires Windows Installer present on your computer. If you do not have it use the link provided below for download.

  Restoring the program

If you want to restore Pocket Email Checker to your Pocket PC after you have removed it only from the Pocket PC and not from the Windows computer just do the following:

  1. Start Microsoft ActiveSync on your Windows computer.
  2. Choose Add/Remove Programs option from the Tools menu and wait until you get the list.
  3. Find Pocket Email Checker on the list, check its box and click Ok.

Note: this will work only if your Pocket PC is docked with the Windows computer that was used to install Pocket Email Checker.

  Unsuccessful installation - what now?

If you are getting an error message and can not start Pocket Email Checker even after the installation process itself is completed without problems, then you are maybe missing .NET Compact Framework.

You can find "Microsoft® .NET Compact Framework 1.0 SP3 End User Redistributable" here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/downloads/updates/default.aspx

Please download and install this first and then try to install Pocket Email Checker again.

Another possible reason why the installation might fail is if you do not have ActiveSync which is required. You can download ActiveSync from Microsoft's website. For example, version 3.7.1 is available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/pocketpc/activesync37.mspx
