Settings menu Register Claudio
http://www.xemico.com/claudio/register.html. Contact Technical Support Opens new e-mail message in your default e-mail client program so you can contact technical support directly at info@xemico.com. Visit Program Homepage Opens your default Internet browser directly at the
program's homepage: About Claudio Opens window with basic information about the program, manufacturer and license. Opens help index file. Transcription Playback Mode This option enables (or disables) the program's unique transcription playback mode. It is designed to make transcribing recorded material easier. With option enabled playback first goes for some time, then it pauses automatically and finally rewinds a little bit to start a new cycle. The idea is to minimize interaction with the program while transcribing. You can adjust all parameters for this mode so with some experimenting you should be able to find the winning combination - in ideal case you would just start the playback once and type everything in a single pass. If this option is active Claudio's front panel will stay on top of the screen all the time until you deactivate it again or use Off command to minimize the program to systray. Opens info dialog that shows maximum recording time (in hrs/min) available for the given quality, available free space on a hard drive (in MB) and its file system. File system of the target hard drive is displayed in brackets next to the drive letter. If you are working with the NTFS file system there is
absolutely no limit on recording time other than hard drive capacity.
With FAT32 you will be able to go up to 4Gb and with FAT file system up
to 2Gb for a single cassette file. Opens additional Help screen that shows all available
keyboard shortcuts. You can also use F12 key to call up this screen
throughout the program. Availability of some keyboard shortcut depends
on the current working mode so this screen is organized in tabs
accordingly. Effects Echo: repeats sound up to five times (Echoes) with cascading delays from 0 to 2000 milliseconds (Delay) and echoed signal level at 0-100% (Gain). Equalizer: allows you to increase or decrease signal level separately in each of ten available frequency ranges. Flanger: somewhat similar to echo, it doubles the original sound with a delay from 0 to 100 milliseconds (Delay) distorted by chosen frequency base from 0 to 10 Hz (Frequency). Pitch: moves the whole frequency spectrum of the original signal by multiplying it with a chosen value from 0.5 to 2 (Value). You can also set transformation quality parameter from 1 to 50 (Quality). Controls: use this option to bring up the effects dialog where you can change parameters described above. If you are changing parameters during playback click Apply for an immediate effect. NOTE: if you want to set effect parameters back to the initial position click on Default. Options Opens dialog for changing various Claudio options. Read on for details. Settings/Options - General tab Show Claudio on Start
No Transparency in Track Editor If the program freezes when you attempt to open Track Editor it might be that there is a problem with displaying Track Editor's transparent bar. In that case the solution is to enable this option and disable transparency without losing any program functionality. Run without Tray Icon If you enable this option the program will not place its icon in the tray area of the taskbar so it will run as a standard Windows program that can not be minimized to tray.
Separator Sound (cassette export) When exporting a whole cassette (all tracks at once) Claudio can automatically add separator sound between tracks. Click Browse to choose WAV file to be used as separator. Make this textbox empty if you do not want to use separator sound at all. Use Windows/Claudio
Volume Controls
If Claudio's Volume Controls Panel is selected you will get access to all sound card volume controls (playback and recording) at one place. Number of available sliders depends solely on the installed driver. However, some drivers could cause problems with this feature, so if you have problems with Claudio's Volume Controls Panel you have to switch back to using Windows Volume Controls. Note: Claudio's own volume controls utility can not work under Windows Vista so this option is not available. You will always have the following three options under MIX: Mixer, Playback Devices and Recording Devices, and these will bring up corresponding Vista's dialogs. Settings/Options - Recording tab Suppress Microphone Noise Level / Recording Volume
Note: For some sound cards and drivers, using only hardware related Recording Volume slider does not provide enough control over microphone's sensibility. For that reason we have added another (software only) control slider named "Suppress microphone noise level". Even so, there is no guarantee that recordings will be as expected in all microphone/sound card/driver combinations. Pre-amplifier With this option you can increase/decrease the signal level of recorded sound. The available range is from -100% (total silence) to +100% (double the input signal level). Please note that this kind of amplification is artificial so depending on the input signal it can come to degradation in sound quality if peaks get cut off. Break Tracks While Recording With this option you can maximize the length of a single track. In that case the program will automatically start new track during recording each time it reaches the limit you set. For example, if you set the option to 15 minutes and then make a 40 minutes recording, you will get that recording automatically divided into three tracks, first two with 15 minutes each and the last one with remaining 10 minutes. Temp Files Location While program is working it has to create some temporary files. By default, those temporary files are saved to the same folder where cassette files are saved. Here you can change the location for temporary files and set it to either temporary folder used by the Windows itself (system) or any other folder you want (custom). Setting a custom folder is a good option when you have additional hard drive with plenty of free space. Settings/Options - Playback tab On Stop Rewind to Track Start If disabled a track will not automatically rewind to the beginning when playback is stopped. Please note that default state for this option is enabled. Instant and Playback Pause Rewind Rolling Resolution (Mouse) [%]
Jump Playback Interval Set the interval for jump playback option here. Default value is 30 seconds. To use the option just press "+" to go forward or "-" to go backward on the numerical keyboard while in stop or playback modes. Transcription Playback Settings Three parameters available in this dialog give you full control over transcription playback mode. Transcription segment length tells the program for how long to keep the playback running before an automatic pause kicks in to give you time to catch up with typing. Pause between segments defines the length of the automatic pause and Auto-rewind before next segment tells the program how much to go back before playing the next segment. Default button will set all parameters back to factory values. With Test and Stop buttons you can try transcription playback on the spot providing you already have some recording to play. Help
