Active Folder 1.0

File size: 603KB (zip file)
Special requirements: None
Supported OS:
Win 95/98

Functionality
Active Folder is a simple utility that can save you loads of time. It is designed to solve the problem of quick and easy access to the most important folders. Now you just need to add them once to the Active Folder’s list and afterwards have them ready for direct access. Right-click on any folder or file within Explorer will show you a context menu with Active Folder as a new option that leads directly to the list of folders you have chosen before.

Besides, that list contains two more options: Add and Activate for adding new folders to the list, and Settings for maintaining the list and changing application’s behaviour. If you wish, you can, in the same way, use Active Folder within Open/Save dialogs!

Now the best part. Whatever we said about folders works for files too! So, your quick access list can contain frequently used documents together with desired folders, and why not, try adding some applications’ executive files to complete the list, and use Active Folder as a quick launch utility for either folders, documents or applications. Active Folder does not have to stay hidden under context menu.

Let it run in system tray and have it available all the time for the quickest possible access to your folders and files. You are not limited with number of folders or files that you can add to the list, but you can limit the number of items that will be displayed in context menu. Put the most important items on top of the list, and access the rest through More.. option that will show up when necessary.

User interface
Active Folder is so easy to use and intuitive that it hardly needs any special explanations. As we said before, you can access it through context menu with right-click on folder or file anywhere in Explorer or Open/Save dialog. Double-clicking the icon in system tray you will go directly to the full list of chosen items, and with right-click you will get limited list as in context menu.

Settings

Folders in Menu:
Use this box to limit the number of items that will be shown in context menu.

Use in Explorer only:
With this check-box you can limit Active Folder’s functionality just to Explorer’s context menu. In other words, with this option checked, Active Folder will not be available within Open/Save dialogs.

Rename (Alt+R):
You can change the name of any item in the list to something shorter or more descriptive. Don’t worry, you will not actually rename the item, you will just change it’s appearance within the list.

Explore:
Using this option will activate highlighted item.

Delete:
Use this option to remove items from the list.

Move Item Up/Down:
With these options you can change order of appearance in the list. Put the most important items on top.

Launch On Start-Up:
If this button is "pressed", Active Folder will place itself in system tray on every Windows’ Start-Up. We recommend this feature to get the most out of Active Folder functionality.

Don't forget to click on Apply Button when you finish with changes.
